Hello there,
It’s Patricia D. McGrew, LPC
I’m Patricia D. McGrew, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), minister, and healing advocate with over 16 years of experience supporting individuals through emotional, mental, and spiritual challenges.
My passion for healing comes from a deep belief that faith and therapy are not separate paths, but complementary ones. I believe true healing is holistic — addressing the mind, heart, and spirit with compassion, honesty, and care.
Throughout my professional journey, I have worked with children, adolescents, adults, families, and at-risk populations across community mental health, foster care, residential treatment, and ministry settings. These experiences have shaped my understanding that healing looks different for everyone and requires spaces that feel safe, authentic, and supportive.
I am especially passionate about supporting individuals — particularly women of color — as they navigate trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, identity concerns, and life transitions.
My Heart for Healing
As a Licensed Professional Counselor, my work is grounded in evidence-based practices, including:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
Motivational Interviewing
Trauma-Informed Care
I place strong emphasis on cultural responsiveness and the therapeutic relationship, believing that trust, understanding,
and compassion are essential components of healing.
While Cups of Courage is not a counseling practice, it is informed
by my clinical training and professional experience, allowing
me to offer thoughtful, ethical, and wellness-focused
resources and programming.
My Professional & Therapeutic
Approach
In addition to my clinical background, I serve in ministry as a licensed evangelist and chaplain. My faith informs how I show up in the world — with compassion, humility, and truth.
Through Cups of Courage, I integrate Scripture, reflection, and encouragement in ways that support emotional wellness and spiritual growth withaout pressure or perfection. My goal is to create space where faith feels supportive, not overwhelming, and where healing can unfold at a natural and sustainable pace.
Faith, Ministry, and Purpose
The Story Behind Cups of Courage
Cups of Courage was created from a simple but powerful belief:
Healing doesn’t have to be rushed, and it doesn’t require perfection.
Inspired by my love for Jesus, my work
as a counselor, and the comfort found
in a warm cup of coffee, Cups of
Courage represents those quiet, intentional moments where courage is built — one pause, one prayer, one reflection at a time.
Through devotionals, workshops, events, counseling-informed resources, and merchandise, Cups of Courage exists to encourage resilience, clarity, and hope.
My Mission
My mission is to walk alongside others
as they move forward with courage,
healing, and purpose — honoring both
their faith and their lived experiences.
Whether you connect through
devotionals, workshops, reflection, or community,
my hope is that Cups of Courage feels
like a place where you are seen,
supported, and encouraged to
keep going.
From the Heart
Through devotionals and written reflections, I share moments of encouragement rooted in Scripture, counseling-informed insight, and compassion. These reflections are meant to create space to pause, breathe, and reconnect — emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.
Whether you’re seeking clarity, comfort, or courage in your everyday life, these writings are offered as gentle reminders that healing is a journey, and you don’t have to rush it.
